At Washington Heights UMC & Community, our ministries reach beyond the walls of the church to meet the needs of our neighbors. We serve the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—through programs that advance housing, health, economic empowerment, and justice.
Housing & Neighborhood Revitalization
We work alongside local organizations to rehabilitate homes, provide shelter for those experiencing homelessness, and advocate for affordable housing policies. Our housing ministry creates stable, dignified spaces where families can thrive.
Health & Wellness
We operate health clinics, host mental health counseling sessions, and promote holistic wellness. We believe healing happens when body, mind, and spirit are cared for, so our programs include free screenings, nutrition classes, and spiritual care.
Economic Empowerment
Our workforce development and entrepreneurship programs equip participants with the skills and resources to secure living‑wage jobs and launch businesses. We offer resume workshops, job search assistance, small business training, and financial literacy classes.
Youth & Family Programs
Children and teens are at the heart of our community. Through after‑school programs, mentoring, tutoring, and leadership development, we empower young people to succeed in school and life. We also support families through parenting classes and supportive networks.
Community & Worship
Our ministries culminate in worship and community‑building. We gather for joyful worship each Sunday and invite the neighborhood to join us for meals, support groups, and special events. Together, we celebrate faith, build relationships, and serve our city.
